to have ... me; having ... me In English, you put "me" at the end of a phrase like "to have helped me," but French puts the word for "me" (me) right at the front, before "to have" (avoir). Because avoir starts with a vowel, me drops its "e" and attaches to it as m'avoir, followed by the action word. For example, « Merci de m'avoir aidé » means "Thank you for having helped me," and « Il pense m'avoir vu » means "He thinks he has seen me" (literally, "to have seen me").
